Playing with the embroidery machine on a placemat from Dollar Tree.  Loved the outcome.

Cute fabrics and it was a fun and fairly fast project.  Owner to add buttons to the pocket flaps.  There are plenty of pockets inside too.

This one was a UFO.  The paperwork on the pattern/kit was dated 2015.

Trip to BOK Tower for the Orchestra.  Great evening.  

Note to self:  if 63 degrees and evening...take heavy jacket!

This little fella was on the tree behind the house.  He was unhappy that I was sitting in the sun and apparently in his space.  But he jumped between the three trees and finally down to the ground.  

This one will go to American Legion in Avon Park.  A quilter in Rainbow will finish it up.

This kit was purchased at JoAnn's this summer and now I have another UFO finished. 

Here's our aloe plant.  Trudy does such great work on keeping it going in the summer.  

We have finally checked what kind of light and water it needs.  Maybe it will continue to thrive now.

Tote bag with Alley Cat from Hatched in Africa

A friend of mine asked if I could do this cat design she found.  We purchased it and I finally got around to starting the project.  Design is from Hatched-in-Africa.  An appliqué in the hoop design.  Stitched out wonderfully.

I made this the backside of the bag.

 

Quilters for comfort- charity quilt

The embroidery blocks as well and the pink and purple fabrics were sent to me by another QFC member.  I constructed, quilted, and delivered it to the coordinator for the June donations.  

This cutie has embroidery blocks and the white block fabric that arrived and I found the other colors to set those blocks off.  Love the way this one turned out.  I also quilted and delivered this one to the same coordinator.

Calendar Quilt-Pattern by Kim Schaefer.  I have carried this piece with me for more than a year and finally after helping another camper with appliqué process I was inspired and finished the "quilting" on this calendar.

I love this design.  Sorry, I don't know where I got it.  I also like another one that says "spit happens"  

This table topper is made using the Super 60 degree triangle ruler and scraps from the "salad" quilt.  Thanks to Karen and Nancy, I mixed a little regular sewing in with the embroidery the past couple days.

Kit and Felicia feel very neglected while I have been sewing and embroidering.  Somehow, I don't think they have missed any meals or snacks during the process even though they might not have happened on their time schedule.  

This particular runner was not on my "to do" list for this week.  Monday, I was looking for something else and came across the green fat quarters that I purchased from Ebay a bit earlier this year.  I knew if I didn't work up these greens I would not get anything made with them until another full year went by.  So I pulled out the Jumping' Jack table runner pattern and got busy.  I adjusted the instructions on the pattern to utilize a bit of strip piecing but the end result looks like their pattern.  This one just fits on our table.  Yeah.  A St. Patty's Day to me.  :o)

There are other burp cloths I am unable to show you just yet.  Don't want to ruin any surprises.

Here is one of four shirts I did yesterday.  The shirt color just called for a flamingo.

Tea bag embroidery, feathers on the long arm, a young girl's dress!

Whew a fun day. Took my first classes in a Craftsy class on machine quilting feathers. My picture is the 5th sample I made this morning. Then it was on to Grace's Easy Dress by Vanilla House. Sharynn at Sharynn's Quilt Box in North Vernon, In. Had the pattern and she had a sample hanging in her store. My neighbors brought me this fancy fabric so our granddaughter, who turns 5 next week, gets a princess dress.

The embroidery blocks were seen out today and will be a present for a friend. The designs are Tea Bag Buddies from JuliasNeedle. They sewed out great.

I think that is about all I accomplished today.

A bit of embroidery, a kitty, bubble quilt,

Here is Kit. She is trying to get my attention or is getting light treatment under my "day" lamp.  Passed out is what she was!   "underfed"  as you can tell. 

 

opps,  the design is still wet from me removing the topper however, this is four of four.  Loved how they came out and client was happy too.  The design is classic car from Embroidery Library.  I added the name with my Janome 350E.  Nine colors and 20 color changes.....on my little machine...but well worth it.

Sorry not too many posts of late.....doing my second job, well not really, I was assisting my friend with cleaning out a family member's home that needed to be moved to an assisted living facility.  This one was pay back to me since she has assisted me several times doing the same thing.  We were blessed.  

This one was finished a  weekend ago while we were at Obannon State Park in Southern Indiana.  

 

 

Strip tube ruler, navy and green quilt, windsock, and fast four patch

These squares are part of my playing today with the Strip Tube Ruler by Cozy Quilt Designs.  

Can you guess what the quilt pattern is?  This is first set of blocks.  Using the ruler and making tubes and then cutting makes these blocks sooooo very easy.  It is now 2:30 p.m.  and I didn't start on these until about one or so.  Now I am headed back to the sunroom to add more blocks to my collection.  But they will be a bit different color than these.  More to come later on this project.  Navy and Green.  Love the combination.

The windsock is now finished and delivered for a basket at the Sunny Travelers RV Rally.  Hope it helps raise some money for them.  Jerry added the grommets at the campground a couple weeks ago and yesterday added the ropes for hanging.  Great job. 

The embroidery design is from Embroider Library.com and the basic instructions are from there as well.  Came together pretty fast.  My first windsock but probably not the last one.

The little fella below is the beginnings of a baby quilt.  I used the fast four-patch method that Jenny at Missouri Star Quilt Co. shows in a tutorial on their site.

It was quick.  Mine turned out fairly well given my method of cutting.  My pieces did not start at 5 inches square but a shade over that.  Making it harder for me to see the little markings on the ruler....so I kinda just judged where I needed to cut.  Not bad turnout for winging it like that.  Borders to come when I figure out what they should be.  I found out Sunday I needed a baby quilt...so I know where this one is going as soon as it is finished.

Scrub caps.  Here are two of four I made on Saturday afternoon.  Daughter-in-law requested some and we went to my stash and wha..lah....how fun they can be.  

Can't wait to see what her co-workers think when she starts sporting these! 

We made this on Friday afternoon.  T measured my cuts for me and helped me at the sewing machine.  She made sure Grandma didn't get her fingers too close to the needle and explored the sewing drawer with machine tools etc.    Pattern was purchased at L & L Yard Goods in Madison, IN on the Charming Shop Hop last weekend.  Fabric came from there as well.  Pattern is:  Flirty Skirty by Whistlepig Creek Productions.  Even with T's help I was able to read the directions and get it done in a couple hours or so.  I made this one a bit big so the next one will be more to size and have three tiers of ruffles rather than just two.  It was great having her here while I worked on it so I could stop when it got long enough and I could adjust the elastic to the waist size.  

Gift for another Grandma.  This was fun.  Had not worked on the embroidery machine for awhile.  Baseball was a Dakota Collectible design which I sized to fit my hoop. Lettering from my Dakota Sizer.  

Shirts for a local business.  I always get nervous working on shirts when they aren't my hubby's.  Always afraid the machine will eat one or something will be completely out of square.  I also did five shirts for hubby Thursday afternoon.  His went much faster....not as many stitches.     

As you can see the later part of the week had no quilting but lots of fun stuff in the sewing room.  And God Blessed us with a beautiful week.

After church this morning we went to Hy-Fly in Crothersville to watch great nephew ride his MX bike.  Wow, a great group of folks and all those kids on motorcycles....some smaller than T.  I like to ride but you would never have seen Aunt Pat jumping those hills!  Good going Stephen.  Erick you'll be back soon when you are all healed.    

 

Second charity quilt for QFC

Here is the quilt top finally finished.  I took my car for service today and got a loaner and went to Sharynn's Quilt Box in North Vernon.  In her back room there was the "perfect" colors on a bolt of flowers which I thought would work with the birdies that arrived for the Jan/Feb Charity quilt project.  I had added the various bright colors around the embroidered blocks and then ran into "writer's block". I could not find anything in my stash that I thought would compliment what I had already added.

Now ready to start work on charity quilt top number three.  Watch for updates.

Brandy's Circle Magic and Covered Bridge Embroidery blocks

 Here are the covered bridge blocks I machine embroidered the past couple days.  The designs are found on Artistic Threadworks.  They have been on my mental to do  list for a couple years.  I had sewn out one block and then got sidetracked with something else.  I actually redid that block yesterday and pitched the original sew out.  I stabilized the blocks with a fusible Pellon backing and I liked the results much better than my original. 
 This is a closeup of one of the blocks.  I have yet to figure out what filler blocks I will make to accent these beautiful designs.  Hopefully they will not stay in my stash for another two years before I use them.
 

I have cut many 9 1/2" circles using the template shown in the picture below.  I will then sew all the way around the circle like I have done in the picture above.  Next I will make a small slit in one side and turn the circle right-side out and press. 
 
Here is the template by Brandy's and the book is called Circle Magic.  The finished project should be a faux cathederal window throw.  All these fabrics were in my stash so this is a great use of those fabrics....but I had to make a trip to New Frankfort Merchantile, Ausing, IN to get the backing for these circles.  Joyce had the perfect shade of yellow.  Five yards and all of it is cut into these 9 1/2 inch circles.  For me this template was super.  I have tried a circle cutter and had very little success.  I used the template and a 28 mm rotary cutter and the process was great.  I found the book and template at Missouri Star Quilt Company and she has a tutorial on her website where the template is listed that shows a crib quilt being made from these circles. 

Well besides doing these projects, Jerry and I made a trip to North Vernon to get my Janome 6500P serviced.  Yearly cleaning and a fix for the bobbin-winder all while I waited and shopped!  Sharynn's Quilt Box has some great items.  She has the Janome machines and also the Handi-Quilters.  I came home with fabric and with a hexagon template to make a neat table topper.  But that project is on hold until the circles are done and a Shadowbox quilt is done.  The table mat or topper may be a camper project for when the sunroom is on the move!

I cannot mention the great visit with Carla, Cooper, and Tierney last night too!  Cooper and Jerry played checkers and chess.
