Playing with the embroidery machine on a placemat from Dollar Tree.  Loved the outcome.

Cute fabrics and it was a fun and fairly fast project.  Owner to add buttons to the pocket flaps.  There are plenty of pockets inside too.

This one was a UFO.  The paperwork on the pattern/kit was dated 2015.

Trip to BOK Tower for the Orchestra.  Great evening.  

Note to self:  if 63 degrees and evening...take heavy jacket!

This little fella was on the tree behind the house.  He was unhappy that I was sitting in the sun and apparently in his space.  But he jumped between the three trees and finally down to the ground.  

This one will go to American Legion in Avon Park.  A quilter in Rainbow will finish it up.

This kit was purchased at JoAnn's this summer and now I have another UFO finished. 

Here's our aloe plant.  Trudy does such great work on keeping it going in the summer.  

We have finally checked what kind of light and water it needs.  Maybe it will continue to thrive now.

Tote bag with Alley Cat from Hatched in Africa

A friend of mine asked if I could do this cat design she found.  We purchased it and I finally got around to starting the project.  Design is from Hatched-in-Africa.  An appliqué in the hoop design.  Stitched out wonderfully.

I made this the backside of the bag.

Sassy cross body or shoulder bag

Wanted to try the pattern. Three FQs and a little batting.
Neat construction process. Fun.

Now I need to find a new home for it. Not large enough for my stuff that I find me carrying lately. About 8 x9.

Here is my latest project. Love the versatility of this bag. It has already found a new loving home.  

Inspired by the Quiltsmart Midi bag.  Love the grommets and one piece handle.  The way this is made it could actually be used as shown or the inside out.  The handle can be used long or doubled.  The square bottom makes is perfect for stuffing it with anything you want.  

Bare Essentials Bag

I love the design of this bag.  It was fast to make and so very cute.  I will have to change my wallet again if I continue to carry this. 

It has a pocket on the outside and one on the inside.  Closure is a magnetic snap.  

You don't see the lining because the constrution uses headers that match the outside of the bag so if you are a bit off when sewing or pressing it is okay.  Gotta love that!

This is just one of my projects over the past week.  More to follow later.  

Pink and black Jelly Bag

Design from Bunny Hill: Jelly Bags #1004. I have had this Jelly Roll for several years. It was called Wild Rose. I have gotten this bag and the rag bag outer pieces from this one jelly roll and I still have pieces left over.

Looks like a nice Spring Bag to me.

Cardinal Purse

Another cardinal bag. A second Penny Sturgis design for Quilts illustrated. Called "Mini Bow Tucks". On this one I used fusible fleece and one less layer of it than pattern called for. Pockets inside this one too. Neat little bows on the sides.

Fabric from a yard sale and wah lag! Snazzy bag-pink and black

The pattern is from the camping trip shopping this past week.  Fabric purchased at a sewing "yard sale" in February.  Pattern is from Lial Tueller Designs, the Snazzy Bag  No. 19.  

I am not good at gathering or finishing touches...but I like this pattern.  If I ever learn to use the ruffler foot for my Janome 6500 then this might be even less stressful.  Being that I finished it at 11:30 this evening, it took me a bit longer than I had anticipated but still not bad.  I know I didn't start on it until after we returned from Cooper's Birthday party so I am thinking close to five before I started.  

Instructions are very well written.  Thank goodness.  After about nine, I needed "well written" and illustrated.  Which the directions fulfilled.   Pattern called for strips from a honey bun but I cut my one strips.  I noticed after they were cut that I had failed to use a wavy edged cutting blade in the rotary cutter to reduce the amount of "shedding" of the strips.  It looks like honey bun cuts my have a pinked edge on them so without that I may do a bit more shedding than I planned.  

I also played with the serger before I started on the bag in earnest.  I got a rolled hem, a narrow him, and a couple other stitches to sew out on the serger.  I was happy.  Then as I got ready to use the overlock stitch to edge the lining and the outside of the bag the machine acted like it wasn't getting enough juice or the connections were not good.  Then after a little jiggling of plugs and plug-ins the serger started right up and kept right on going for at least as much as I needed tonight.  Hope it works well tomorrow in my class.
