Playing with the embroidery machine on a placemat from Dollar Tree.  Loved the outcome.

Cute fabrics and it was a fun and fairly fast project.  Owner to add buttons to the pocket flaps.  There are plenty of pockets inside too.

This one was a UFO.  The paperwork on the pattern/kit was dated 2015.

Trip to BOK Tower for the Orchestra.  Great evening.  

Note to self:  if 63 degrees and evening...take heavy jacket!

This little fella was on the tree behind the house.  He was unhappy that I was sitting in the sun and apparently in his space.  But he jumped between the three trees and finally down to the ground.  

This one will go to American Legion in Avon Park.  A quilter in Rainbow will finish it up.

This kit was purchased at JoAnn's this summer and now I have another UFO finished. 

Here's our aloe plant.  Trudy does such great work on keeping it going in the summer.  

We have finally checked what kind of light and water it needs.  Maybe it will continue to thrive now.

Sheep quilt, Catitude-cool cats, reflection pattern with Catitude fabric, sunflowers

Cool Cats pattern by Grizzly Gulch for her Catitude fabrics.  Love the layout.  It is now finished but I have not taken a picture of it since then.

Sunflowers from my neighbor!  Beautiful.

Down to Sleep pattern by Quilt Designs.  48 x 58  Now to get it quilted and bound and gifted.

More Catitude fabrics but border is a blank quilting piece.  The pattern is Reflections by MountainPeek Creations.  Great, fast pattern. 

Purple Labryinth

My kitty, Kit, thinks I am invading her space.  This is the king size layout but I shrunk the block size.  50 some inches square rather than 110.  

I had to quilt some of the areas I missed when I was quilting at the store on their Sweet Sixteen Little Foot.

I was trying out the Weightless Quilter.  It worked wonderful...so nice not to worry about the weight of a quilt.  

Florida made quilts for Gatlinburg

Someone loves horses.  A Quilting Treasures fabric line and pattern on their site as well.

Camo/outdoors manly quilt.  It was an All people Quilt pattern designed for Denim.  

How fun for a five year old or maybe six who loves cars.  Center panel and borders.  

These were each made with for a specific individual in a family that lost their home in the Gatlinburg fires.  So grateful that they got out with their lives.  It was ohhh so close.  

Quilters for Comfort quilts March 2016 project

These three quilts will be delivered to Arizona sometime in March/April of this year.  I only did the pale quilt top with the swirly animals.  The other two were constructed from blocks sent to me by two other QFC members.  I have shipped all three tops off to another member who will quilt and bind these three and mail them off to the co-ordinator for this quarter's project.

Always fun to get those blocks in and then the challenge to make them even better than they are when they arrive. 

 

 

Fire and Ice Bargello

Ann Laurer designed Fire And Ice and was published in Fons and Porters, May/June 2015 of Quilting Quickly.  

After doing the small bargello shown in the prior post, I thought I was done with bargello at least for a bit.

A group of ladies from Southern IN get together to sew typically once a month at least in the summer.  And Beth saw this pattern and showed it to us.  Everyone seemed to like the idea....so it was off to search out the publication.  Thanks Jackie for finding them for us.

Then there were those 20 fabrics to find.  not 12 or 10 or 15...20 fabrics.  

Now some of our group is talented enough to take those smaller numbers and come out with a beautiful arrangement that captures all the variations that show up in the original pattern...  I am not one of those.  So with the aide of several very talented ladies at Scrappy Patches Quilt Shop in Brownstown, we found 20 fabrics.  Yeah.

The pattern was written very well and I after listening to the others that had already completed their quilt tops I went very slowly through the steps and was very happy not to need to rip any long seams to achieve my goal.

Thanks to the gals for the inspiration, prodding, and encouragement.  

Loved it after it was finished.  I am even looking at some more complicated designs...just thinking about them for the time being.

 

Irish Mist

 

A history of this quilt. Someone showed a quilt from this pattern at Southern Pines Quilt Show two shows ago and I loved theirs. The search was on for the pattern and fabrics. Fabrics from Crafty Quilters in Fl and Scrappy Patches in Brownstown IN. Help from many when selecting border fabrics last week and the keen eye of a Scrappy Patches customer who found a flying geese unit in backwards. One full full week of piecing and a long arm visit to quilt it. And patient kids waiting on their new quilt that was over a year between the initial collection of pattern and fabrics to completion. Many of the fabrics made three trips between FL and home.

Trip to P &Qs

I signed up to do two charity quilts for QUILTERS FOR COMFORT before June.
They need to be at least 50 x 60 and done for children. Well the Dalmatian fabrics jumped into my arms and the zebras came along too. The pink stripes will be a border on something. The purple batik well that had been talking to me for the last couple of visits.
Now to get the patterns picked out and finish the quilts.

Dog Quilt for my niece. All Aflutter is the pattern name.

This is where I started on Friday morning.  Got this far on the design wall and found I didn't have enough of the next two fabrics to complete the quilt.  So off to P and Q's in Dundee.  And also on to Joann's in Winter Haven.  Harder to find the right colors after a project is in progress and one already has a vision of how it should turn out.

 

 This is supposed to be a DOG quilt.....so of course Kit is trying to claim it for her

 The initial rows are sewn together, no place in the house to stretch it all out so I moved to the driveway while the wind was not blowing.   I had to test to determine the size.  I was not trusting my measurements.  I am adding the triangles to square it up now.

Whew this has been a busy and productive time. Besides hosting a small camping rally over the weekend I have managed to get some quilt tops sewn and to finish a table topper. All different patterns. Love it.
