Baby Genius Synapse! from Fall 2011 Fons & Porter Easy Quilts was a 36 block quilt that finished a 42 x 42 inch square with 36 blocks.
Well now grand daughter wanted a cover/quilt for her new bed-twin sized. This layout is 10x10 blocks so far, which should result in a 60 x60 top. So I think I need 40 more blocks to make it the right size for her bed.
Oh and I need to finish it by Friday our Christmas Day with them. :0).
I am so glad to have found that little ruler (Folded Corner Clipper) that helps me get the snowball blocks made accurately. Because I not only have the 100 snowball blocks here. I also have 200 small half square triangle blocks made from the corners that were cut off in making the blocks seen here.
More than half way finished. I can make this. I can, I can.
May and June Calendar quilts from Kim Schaefer's pattern for 12 months of small quilts.
I have managed to get the appliqué shapes fused to the pieces backgrounds. Now to layer, quilt, and bind. Then enjoy the wall quilts next season.
I always enjoy doing these patterns.
If I am going to reach one if my goals for this year I have the last four months to get started and finished before year end.
We will see. I will let you know how it goes. :0).
Here is the basis quilt top/calendar quilt. Now to use thread to embellish and make parts of the design stand out a bit more.
Opps my watermelon has fallen over....actually I just cannot get the picture orientated correctly tonight.
Can't wait to get to work on the quilting on this one. It is watermelon time here in Indiana and this is perfect.
Happy Trails!
Purchased the blocks from Toni's yard sale when she was downsizing. She had ten blocks and I have used nine here. I put them on my design wall and had them in all different layouts. Nothing was doing anything for me.
Then in the middle of the morning, "on-point" came to mind. So a bit later in the day I moved the blocks around some more and put them "on-point". I was happy. Next came the border quandry. I wanted it to remain "on-point" so off I went to Google. "On-point quilts" brought up beautiful layouts and the following link to my favorite Crafsy website.

From here I determined that I could still use a calculator (although it is now on my phone) to render a result. I needed about 26 inch squares of fabric to make the corner triangles.
Now I only had a little bit of two fabrics and scraps of the rest. I pieced the flower fabric and cut it and cut a square of orange fabric and cut it on the diagonal. WOW...Now there are only small scraps left and I have a square, but it is on-point.
Now to layer, quilt, and bind.
I am happy to have finished up Toni's UFO without just adding it to my UFO stash. :o)
Happy Trails.
May God Bless!
Whew is this a bit different than my normal style. Purchased a fat quarter bundle at Whittles in Smith Grove, KY last Friday. Cut pieces for the Big and Bold pattern on Saturday while a friend was making her quilt top. Today I could stand it no longer. I started sewing and this is the top that resulted. Butterflies, flowers, chevrons, big dots, geometric shapes, and pin dots (that read as a solid). Happy, full bodied colors: red, blues, yellows, creams, browns, pinks.
It has been fun to see the top come together. Scary at times....until it is all finished.
I think it is about 75 inches square. Just a bit too big for my design wall so the yard was my place to take the photos.
Now I have two tops to quilt and two to finish the hand part of the binding on.
But first a NAP!
Happy Weekend to all!
Cheese and Crackers by Atkinson Designs. Loved this pattern.
Love the green and black in this one with a touch of teal and lavender. Looking for my pattern to give you that info. Will find it before I post the finished picture.
Binding left to go. The beautiful rich purple is not reading correctly on my screens. It is such a beautiful fabric. Thank you Rhonda for sharing your stash with me. The pattern is Walk About by Ann Lauer for Grizzly Gulch Gallery. Love it.
Just had to tease you all with the ones that are just about finished.
SOLD! at Keepsake Quilting Consignment Program.
This quilt top is in progress. I just added the bottom row. The first three rows are each from a different person. A Row Quilt that will eventually be finished and presented to a verteran. This is a project with Quilters for Comfort. Now a Yahoo group whose members are all across the country and make quilts that are donated to different groups. This is just one that is in progress.
Go to your favorite quilt store and get the pattern by Cozy Quilt Designs. Instructions are so nice. These particular fabrics from Joann's did not require as many strips as a pattern gives you which is great. Gives me wiggle room.
I am not going to tell you how much I did not start out reading the pattern. Let us just suffice to say that there will be some grey strips in future quilts.
I was so happy to be able be home today for our grandson who was recovering from a bug and to be able to quilt. This project had been on my to do list for a few weeks. There is another row to go but I did not get out the larger wall for just one row. Wall by Cheryl Ann's Design Wall. Very portable, east to put up, take down, and stores in next to nothing space.
I have two more sets of fabric that may lend themselves well to this pattern.
Happy weekend.
Love the Frixon pens. However, today, I learned not to leave the label on the ironing board and place freshly ironed and hot blocks on top of the label! Heat removes it. Thank goodness Cold restores it. I popped the label in the freezor for a short period of time and there were my notations again. Whew!
Here is the quilt for Josh and Ashley. Their wedding was September 22, 2012.
They don't know how unusual it was for me to complete a quilt before the wedding! Tee Hee. I found the fabrics in a little store near where Josh grew up. These were their wedding colors: navy and apple green.
Loved how this turned out. Hope they do too.
