Playing with the embroidery machine on a placemat from Dollar Tree.  Loved the outcome.

Cute fabrics and it was a fun and fairly fast project.  Owner to add buttons to the pocket flaps.  There are plenty of pockets inside too.

This one was a UFO.  The paperwork on the pattern/kit was dated 2015.

Trip to BOK Tower for the Orchestra.  Great evening.  

Note to self:  if 63 degrees and evening...take heavy jacket!

This little fella was on the tree behind the house.  He was unhappy that I was sitting in the sun and apparently in his space.  But he jumped between the three trees and finally down to the ground.  

This one will go to American Legion in Avon Park.  A quilter in Rainbow will finish it up.

This kit was purchased at JoAnn's this summer and now I have another UFO finished. 

Here's our aloe plant.  Trudy does such great work on keeping it going in the summer.  

We have finally checked what kind of light and water it needs.  Maybe it will continue to thrive now.

Purple and Green-table toppers of Fresh Lilac fabric

Fresh Lilacs fabrics used in these two toppers.  The large more rounded topper is made using the GEM Ten ruler. Somewhat based on the Bronze Mosaic Pattern without any strip sets for setting triangles.  

Smaller rectangle pattern is Fresh Lilacs Table Runner by Debbie Beaves  Found on Maywood Studio website.

And below is another table cover made of the same line of fabric:  Fresh Lilac.  

Pattern is Over Under by Swirly Girls.  It uses the Creative Grids 30 degree ruler (CGRSG1) I enjoyed quilting on this one.  Feathers and squiggles.  It is about 48 inches in diameter.  I slightly rounded the edges before adding the binding-just because.  Binding fabric is not from the same line, but I liked it.  

 

Can you tell I liked the fabric line?  And I still have some left.  Not sure what it will become...yet. 

 

Progress on Bargello Table Runner

Here is the progress on the table runner.  Border has been added and I started to quilt however I wasn't happy with how I had started so must remove the quilting done and restart...while I am waiting to get in the mood to rip stitches I am working on two T-Shirt Quilts.  They are for customers so I will post pictures after they are finished and I get permission to do so.  They have been fun but I must get back to the Bargello runner.  I love it.  The runner pattern is called:  Rainbow Bargello and was purchased on Craftsy from CastillejaCotton.  

Great pattern.  Easy to follow instructions.  Would be a perfect beginner bargello project.  

 

 

Sows Ear/Ugy Fabric Challenge

Two months ago at Washington County Piecemakers  Quilt Guild, we exchanged ugly fabric.  We each brought a piece of ugly fabric to guild meeting.  Afterward we stood in a circle and passed the fabric piece to the right for awhile, then to the left a bit.  When switching direction we were told to split the fabric piece in half.  and keep one half and pass the rest when the "music" started again.  

Below is the backside of my project.

Of course, I waited until the night before the meeting to prepare my entry.

I selected the pattern:  Simple Pleasure by Nicole Chambers-Kaya at Tiger Lily Press.  

I had four fabrics and each of them had to be visible on the front of the project.

The picture below is the backing, and the little square on the left corned shows all four fabrics.

 

 

 

Below is the front.  

All four fabrics are on the front.  The bright stripe is showing on two horse harnesses.  

I was happy not to add those fabrics to my stash.  I can use the backside of the runner easily.  The front side....not so much.

Dresden turkey turned table topper

I started this project in November and was planning on using Missouri Star Quilt Company's design to make a turkey to hang in our home away from home.  Well, it quickly became apparent that I had completely misjudged sizes needed for the turkey. So the Dresden petals went into my stash.  

I had a yard sale on fabric and related items.  Dresden petals still mine.

So I started playing with the layout and the turkey idea was discarded completely.  I made the circles and layered them.  Okay, I was happy with that.  Then I appliqued them to the brown backing fabric.  Ended up making a round table topper to adorn a Thanksgiving table.  

I like it and the postings to Facebook inspired a friend to utilize ties from her Dad to have Memory blocks made for each of her siblings.  Love it when something like that happens.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Table Mat times ten

A friend asked for table mats for an upcoming event.  So I had fun using orphan blocks and creating new from scratch items too.  

In the process I have decided a string quilt is in my future sometime this year.  Loved the way it turned out.  One of those projects I had been wanting to try.  Glad I was able to use several of the pieces left from other projects too.  Hate to have the orphans hanging around and getting lost in the stash.  Great to be able to use them to start a project without just starting at square one.

 

Star Mat

 

Here is a star mat made for the Quilt group challenge at Southern Pines RV Resort.  Last season we were given the challenge and a fat quarter.  Several of us brought in finished projects and members selected their favorites.  

Enjoyed the project but I did not follow instructions.  I have not sewn down the points like the pattern called for.  A learning experience but I still like the resulting mat.  

It could easily be used for a hot pad as it is several layers thick.  However, I wouldn't want this one to get dirty.  With my construction method it might be a challenge to wash.  

 

 

Baby quilts and red, white, and blue

Whew this has been a busy and productive time. Besides hosting a small camping rally over the weekend I have managed to get some quilt tops sewn and to finish a table topper. All different patterns. Love it.

Strata Star

Oh so much fun. This one is for Barb at Scrappy Patches in Brownstown, IN. She will use it to advertise my class and then it is hers. Of course the picture does not so it justice.

Sew Easy

The day was beautiful and muggy outside. Did a table topper with Sew Easy Table Topper pattern by Ruthann Eckersley.

Can't wait to see other fabrics in this pattern.

Ruthann has two other patterns with this design. One is 36 inches or 42 inches. The other is for a bed quilt.

I saw the pattern in an on-line swap. Just had to try it.
